Here we share some of our favourite brands with you!

This month, we have a fabulous interview from Jessica, the founder of Noonday Collection. Read our interview below!

Jessica Honegger is the Founder and CEO of Noonday Collection. Noonday Collection is a socially responsible business that uses fashion to create meaningful opportunities across the world.

Tell us a little about Noonday Collection. How do you use fashion to create opportunity across the globe?

We travel the world to find artisan entrepreneurs who have a desire to create change in their communities. We partner with artisan businesses, developing them through fair trade and empowering them to create dignified jobs. Our customers – along with a community entrepreneurs we call Ambassadors – create a marketplace for these artisans’ products. This enables them to grow their businesses sustainably – and to create more opportunity in their communities.

Today we partner with 30 artisan businesses in 13 countries – and together we sustain jobs for more than 4,000 people. Our vision as a business is to do our part in building a flourishing world where women are empowered, children are cherished, people have jobs and we are connected.

You launched Noonday Collection a few years ago out of your home in Austin, Texas. What gave you the courage to become an entrepreneur?

Our family was in the process of adopting our son from Rwanda. I hosted the first Noonday Trunk Show as a fundraiser for our adoption. As my friends fell in love with the style and story, I began to dream bigger than a fundraiser. I believed in the power of business to create lasting change for people.

What has been the most surprising thing about Noonday Collection?

The whole thing! I really just had no idea this would happen. I knew what my big dream was – to see economic opportunity come to vulnerable communities and to use my love for fashion to do it. But seeing other people latch onto the vision and run with it, that has been incredible.

We love that you are empowering women to make a difference, no matter where they are at in life. What’s your best advice for moms balancing work and family?

I’ve come to realize that my work with Noonday actually causes my children to flourish. The other night my 9-year-old daughter Amelie said to me, “Mommy, think about what has happened for us because of Noonday. If it wasn’t for Noonday, Jalia and Daniel wouldn’t be able to send their kids to school. And we wouldn’t have all these friends from all over the world!” I would just like to encourage women in the phase of career and motherhood that this is a journey you’re on with your entire family. You’re not alone.

As a mum and an entrepreneur, how do you stay engaged and inspired at home and at work?

I really value alone time. I love reading and traveling, and sometimes it feels like by spending time in those things I’m taking away from my family. But I’ve come to realize that it’s ultimately for their good. Taking time to be me, by myself, helps my family, me and my business flourish.

You have the opportunity to travel all over the world to connect with Noonday’s artisan partners. Tell us a little about one of the inspiring artisan entrepreneurs you work with.

Jalia, our first artisan business partner in Uganda, has become like a sister to me. She’s my business partner, my friend, and in many ways her life parallels mine. We’ve helped each other. As our business has grown, so has hers! We rally around the challenges of business together – and we celebrate success together.

You are a woman on the go! What is your best piece of travel advice?

Be adventurous. Be open to connections. Pack a good face cream. And shop.

Thanks Jessica!
