We are thrilled to announce that our much loved Shampoo has won the Gold medal for best Haircare in the Free From Skincare Awards.
A packed theatre at this year's Allergy + Freefrom Show in London watched Janey Lee Grace present the trophies. Janey who is a natural products guru - as well as a DJ - is herself a fan of Gentle Herb Shampoo and has given it her own ‘platinum’ award for the past two years.
The FreeFrom awards recognise products that exclude many of the allergens and chemicals that consumers need or want to avoid. The judging process has many stages and culminates in a month-long trial of the products by the world famous ‘Green Beauty Bible’ testing panel.
Gentle Herb Shampoo was said to be the ‘standout’ product in the hair care category with the testing panel reporting things like:
“Great to use - hair feels clean and scalp not irritated”
“Cleared up flakiness on scalp - very impressive ... practical to use in the shower”
“Surprised at how manageable my hair was once it had dried naturally ... quite soothing to use, and doesn’t feel like it’s stripping the hair and scalp like some harsher shampoos do ... very gentle for sensitive skin”
To us this award almost has a sentimental value: Margaret originally formulated it for a friend with psoriasis of the scalp who found no success with the tar-based or medicated shampoos she was usually prescribed. The Shampoo was incredibly hard to formulate, but went on to have great success. It also became the very first organically certified shampoo in the UK and is free from sulphates, artificial fragrance, preservatives, parabens and animal products. Instead it uses a gentle, but effective plant-based detergent, organic coconut oil and herbs of biodynamic nettle, horsetail, chamomile and aloe vera to condition and soothe.
At the Allergy Show it was fantastic to see so many existing customers and many of you told us how wonderful the Shampoo is to use, particularly on sensitive skin. A very heartfelt thanks for this – it makes what we do feel really worthwhile. On the subject of which, I will write another blog later this week about another customer success story we had at the Allergy Show, this time with lipstick…
