A night in the world of ethical fashion - Essential Care makeup adorns Komodo models! - Odylique Blog

A night in the world of ethical fashion - Essential Care makeup adorns Komodo models!

We love working with other ethical companies so when the ecologically produced & fairly traded clothing label Komodo asked us to support the launch of their winter collection with our new natural makeup range, we said yes! I have to admit I was slightly nervous before I saw the clothes because ethical clothing doesn’t – or didn’t use to at least – have the best reputation for being on the cutting edge of the catwalk. But my goodness Komodo’s designs are gorgeous! – I’m a big fan.

From the Komodo images online you get an idea of the shape, but not necessarily the lovely soft feel of the fabrics. Soft wools skilfully tailored into cosy coats by an ethically-run factory in Kathmandu - I particularly loved the one I’m wearing in this pic!

The organic cotton feels like really good quality and the cuts of the coats and dresses are flattering too.

essential care professional mineral makeup

Having lived and breathed the birth of our mineral makeup for the past 3 years, it was thrilling to see it come alive on real faces. We’d wondered how it would fare in the hands of a makeup artist who was used to working with high performance, conventional makeup, but Carol Lopez Reid (without any practice beforehand) did the most brilliant job. Commenting how nice it was to be working without crushed beetles (carmine – the usual red colour in lipsticks!) Carol was at ease with our completely natural colours and textures.

No. 11 and 12 lipsticks (Marshmallow and Raspberry Coulis) were particular favourites among the bloggers who had come to report on the Komodo collection. Carol also used our mascara as a liquid eyeliner and did some great eyeshadow blends. I was lucky enough to have Carol (thank you!) give me a quick makeover – she used Bark eyeshadow, black eyeliner and Marshmallow lipstick and well, it sounds vain to say what I thought of the result, but I was extremely pleased.

Delicious organic and fair trade drinks courtesy of The Organic Spirits Co topped off a great evening. Thanks to Foundation Agency for a fabulous time in their cosy Winter Wonderland-themed event. Check out the lovely Komodo collection here.
