Readers of our blog will know that one of our passions - alongside extolling the benefits of good organic skin care and banishing harmful chemicals from cosmetics – is promoting parent-friendly working hours. The rigid 9-5 workday is so last century!
When I became a mum I realised just how tough it was for people who didn’t have the benefit (i.e. flexibility) of running their own company to juggle a career and parenting. I knew it wasn’t necessary to tie people down to 9-5 or an office. And there was an awful lot of talent (particularly mums) going to waste; forced out of the job market because they needed more time to spend with their children. So I made a pledge to recruit talented parents who wouldn’t be tied to working any time of day or location. We now have 4 of them and frankly they do a very good job!
So we are particularly touched to be a finalist in the national ‘Mumandworking’ Awards 2014.
These major, high profile awards promote and celebrate companies and individuals who are shining examples of how flexible, family-friendly working opportunities empower working parents to achieve their full potential and benefit businesses, families and the UK economy.
Now in their 4th year, the awards have become even more relevant as everyone working in the UK now has the statutory right to more flexible hours. Hundreds of nominations were received with a 60% increase over previous years year so to get this far is a great accolade in itself.
The awards ceremony will take place in London on October 16th which we are very much looking forward to. Finalists include national and international names as well as start-ups and parent-entrepreneurs, all of whom share the belief that family-friendly work policies are key to the future of good businesses.

Everyone should be able to make time for an ice-cream in the park...
