A Natural Day Look With Organic Make Up Artist Laura Jane Sessions

We have put together a step-by-step guide to creating a fresh and simple barely-there autumn/winter look using mineral make-up to get you through the day.

1. Apply Moisturiser

The key to a minimal look is to prepare the skin well. Apply a moisturiser to your face and neck to hydrate before you begin the make-up.organic-moisturiser

2. Apply Mineral Foundation

Follow this with a liquid or mineral foundation to match your skin tone, working it into the skin as you go with a buffing brush. Keep the coverage light for a sheer, no-make-up finish. If you want to learn how to make your own BB cream using Odylique products then read our how-to blog!

3. Apply Concealer

Use Natural Mineral Concealer to hide any blemishes and under eye shadows. Apply with your finger or a brush or cotton bud rather than the bullet itself for more accurate results.

Tip: When you are applying concealer to the under eye area, only apply to the shadow itself rather than the whole area to avoid the eye looking puffy.

4. Add Blusher

This season less is most definitely more when it comes to blush. Apply a cream blush to slightly up onto the cheekbone for a barely there, natural glow Praline lipstick makes for a great cream blush on lighter skin tones as it has a beautiful sheer finish. Fig Fondant makes a lovely blush option for darker skins.

5. Apply Powder

Apply a small amount of powder to the t-zone to take the edge off the shine. Don’t overdo it however as you don’t want your skin to look too matte.

Using a brow brush comb through and tidy the brows and fill them where necessary using a brow powder or matte eyeshadow and an angle brush. Using a shadow or brow powder is a little more forgiving than a brow pencil and much more flattering!

6. Apply Eyeshadow

Keep colour on the eyelids to a minimum, either leave them shadow free. If you don’t dare to bare, wash a little Sand or Shell Mineral Shadow over the lid using a shadow brush (I used Shell).

7. Apply Eyeliner and Mascara

Apply a fine run of Black Organic Pencil Eyeliner along the upper lash line (use a sharpener to get a nice fine, sharp point) and then a slick of Mascara  to the upper and lower lashes.

Tip: if you are a little wobbly when you apply eyeliner draw a series of dashes with the liner and join them together rather than trying for one solid continuous line.

8. Apply A Little Lipstick

Using your finger dab a little colour onto your lips to create a soft and natural lip-line. I used Praline once again to work with the blush tone.
