For two weeks, I couldn’t sleep at night. My obsession as a huge sports fan led me to spend hours in the evening glued to the Olympic Games. It’s not often that I reach for a blend of relaxing essential oils. I’ve figured out that the late night Gabby Logan programme was the main problem; its tingling intro theme and the fast-paced flashing pictures of the London skyline sent my already high adrenaline levels into overdrive.
Now it’s now all caught up with me. The effects of little sleep, the adrenaline slump and no more high-octane sporting drama rolled into one.
Inspired to go out and run hard again by the biggest sports day this country’s ever seen, I’ve also strained a few muscles I’d forgotten I had! So I’m now reaching for the massage oil and a willing pair of hands to iron out the knots in my calves.
Not that I’m complaining one bit. To quote the BBC’s Hazel Irving, “I believe in the power of sport” and if the Olympics has inspired a generation to be healthy and fit, then you can’t ask for more of a legacy than that.
If like me you’ve got the post-Olympics hangover, here are my remedies of the week: Relax and Revive essential oil blends; Organic Muscle Ease and some Gold Eyeshadow (to rekindle those memories of sporting success!). Roll on the Paralympics.
