Summer Hair How To
Hair needs looking after through the summer. Salt water, sun, humidity, and sweating can all turn waves to frizz and straight, groomed tresses to ratty string like trails. Our beach hair 'how to' will see you through the whole summer long in style.
Tip 1: Commercial shampoos and conditioners contain silicone which coats the hair, making it look shiny in the short term, but weighs it down in the long term, making styling impossible. Switching to an organic shampoo like our Soil Association certified Gentle Herb Shampoo, which will refresh the hair, eventually removing the need for a conditioner. The vitamin and mineral-rich powerpack of virgin coconut oil, chamomile, biodynamic nettle and horsetail will leave your hair fuller and more naturally manageable.
Tip 2: Sunlight naturally lightens your locks so if you want to colour, use an organic vegetable colour to promote shine without stripping the hair of natural essential oils. Three weeks before you go away begin to get your locks into tip top condition with bi-weekly intensive conditioning treatments. Using your fingertips, distribute just a little of our organic Ultra Rich balm over your entire scalp, comb through to hair ends and wrap head in a hot towel for at least half an hour before shampooing thoroughly.
Note: Organic Ultra Rich is aso a useful ‘instant’ conditioner for sun and saltwater dried hair ends whist away. Either rub a tiny 5p sized amount between both hands and scrunch into completely dry hair ends pre or post shampooing.
Tip 3: Two weeks before you go is when to get the hair cut – leaving enough time for it to settle if the styling hasn’t quite come out as planned! To be on the safe side, stick with a good trim to keep it neat, saving the new image for autumn. A week before you go, get your holiday hair kit ready and packed.
