Expert Advice

The sheer number and variety of skin care tips available can be quite confusing.  Because we are all individuals, the best skin care advice for how to get perfect skin would logically be to try and give your skin what it needs at this moment in time. This can be simpler than it sounds. The first step involves recognising your basic skin type e.g. dry, normal or combination and secondly, whether it currently needs ‘special care’ for example irritation, blemishes, redness, dry patches, or harsh weather protection. This way you can choose the most appropriate products for your everyday routine whilst at the same time addressing your skin’s particular needs.

A daily cleanse, tone and moisturise routine with go a long way towards getting perfect skin. Daily cleansing stimulates the skin’s cell turnover and gently remove dirt and dead skin cells. This unblocks your pores, allows your skin to breathe and reveals the natural radiance of new skin layers. For normal-dry and mature skin, and sensitive skin, we recommend our Creamy Coconut Cleanser, or if you have normal to oily or combination skin, use our Purifying Lemon & Tea Tree Wash. Very dry, mature and especially sensitive skin can benefit from the hydrating, smoothing effect of the Silk-Touch Cleanser.

Toning might be considered superfluous skin care advice. But we believe that a toner really does add value to your skincare routine. Toning helps to close pores if you have oilier skin and rebalance the skin’s acid mantle. Some toners can add extra calming support to skin prone to redness and flare-ups. The key is in using an exceptional quality of toner. High alcohol, over-preserved toners wouldn’t fall into that category, and we would only recommend using a toner that is absolutely natural with a high level of actives.

Moisturising is especially important for drier skin and those prone to eczema, and particularly in winter. Moisturise onto clean skin in the morning and again in the evening if your skin feels especially dry. Use a moisturiser naturally rich in antioxidant plant vitamins such as our Rose Moisturiser or the richer Avocado Replenishing Cream (for the face) and avoid any products containing petroleum oils as these provide no beneficial nutrients to the skin. If you’re outside in windy or cold weather, rich balms like Ultra Rich or Calendula Balm with beeswax, raw shea butter and cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil provide a breathable shield for the skin.

The last of our skin care tips - for instant radiance is to use a touch of Superfruit Concentrate This wonderful facial serum packed full of 100% organic vitamins provides a conditioning boost - and a touch of colour - from its glorious antioxidant fruits of rosehips, pomegranate, sea buckthorn and avocado. Just a couple of drops either alone or on top of your moisturiser can quickly help achieve healthy-looking skin.

The key to how to get perfect skin is to provide it with the gentle, kind and balanced care which will enable it to achieve optimal function.  Many of the artificial chemicals used in skin care are known to be irritant or over-drying, or conversely are pore-clogging synthetic oils.  Our advice is to choose skin care and cosmetic products carrying a recognised organic certification. This gives you a guarantee not only of the quality and purity of its natural ingredients, but also the total absence of undesirable synthetic chemicals such as fragrances, dyes and many preservatives.

And we go even further... Odylique 100% natural and organic products are formulated with virgin cold-pressed oils and herbs to maximise their active nutrients and therapeutic value. And they exclude common allergen tree nut oils, wheat, dairy and soya too.  This has to be a great recipe for happy, healthy skin!
